I agree, such a wonderful design the original Capri was; I used to sell them in OZ, we only got the first series models out there; my favourite version was the 3 litre V6, wish I still had one!
Imagine if they had just made an entry level 2.0L RWD competitor to the GT86/BRZ segment, and called it a Capri. That would be incredible, but I'm pretty sure the primary thing stopping manufacturers from doing things like that are insane eco-hippie regulations.
Back in the day a fitting name for a desirable affordable coupe referencing a beautiful place in Italy. Now it’s wasted on a glorified kitchen appliance. Will not go down nicely in Ford’s history…

It's crazy to think Shmee will now own 3 mustangs. Each Mustang is even more crazy than the last! That's start with the GT 500 and that was a pretty wild Mustang
For those not in the know, the capri was a legendary small version of the mustang powered by an Essex V6 motor from germany, in England putting out about a 135, 140 horses in a lightweight package, think like a Cobra II but in a much smaller, Nimbler Svelt form, and priced for the masses, like if you made a mustang a mini cooper S, one of which, its biggest fan, is actually Tiff Needell, not an SUV, thus naming it that, is like Naming it a Boss 429 to a british person when it should have been the electric pinto, which, actually it kinda looks like, like a Pinto Mated with the old 1990's Mercury Cougar that looked like a ford KA just in modern form stuffed with the anti enthuasit power plant of electric and priced at 60 grand US, what a good 3 series BMW goes for and thus this...... is not going to go well, I think it would have been less sacriligious, to just take an old capri and put in the electric devil under the bonnet instead of the essex V6 which gets 40 miles to the gallon, and actually, kinda produced the same amount of power the Cobra II did in 1976 with a 302 V8 under the hood funny old world that, if only Lee Iccoca wasnt an idiot, they should have just brought them in AS the pinto same thing with the Cortina and the Grenada, really REALLY good little cars that we never got in the US that put british leeland out of business overnight really that and the fact that most british cars made by them, I think were using Dynamo's all the way up until 1969 which only worked and generated electricity when you were moving, unlike an alternator that is working all the time hence lucas, prince of darkness, like between that and the fact that most british cars didnt have synchro's on first is really a baffling decision to say the least, and is why Junking the motor and replacing it with an american V8 that has an alternator and that became a thing ironically resulting in the AC cobra really, and the now unbelievable thing now, that the american cars are more reliable, which in period provided it didnt have a holley carb on it that needed frequent retuning and rejetting, was actually a legit real thing back then. that was, actually kinda true

The look of thr GTD is so emotional. I mean.. im sure it's all functional, but it's aggressive, sort of retro/cyberpunk, yet beautiful. Incredible... really. My only wish would have been for a slightly more special power plant. Still... the 5.2 is a great engine as well, just could be a little more special. Throw a flat-plane crank in it so it sounds "different " maybe?
It’s a Mustang. Not all of it is functional I’m sure. The fact that this car has no carbon buckets, should tell you a bit about where Ford’s mindset is with it.
I called it the moment I heard about the GTD. I knew Tim was going to get one! I’d probably make mine red like the GTR back in the day. Side note, I recently rented a Hertz Shelby, needless to say it was the most fun rental I’ve ever had.

They should of given you the 150 coin, that would have been epic. Also, the attention to detail in sending out the coin to you in their selection process.
Umm Schmee with the ford GTD, I just noticed something, they boast a 50/50 weight distribution on the webpage, the early vipers were like that and caused their tail happyness between that and the underly sensitive gas pedal, and the really large 355 section tires that dont grip well in the wet, just give the tire pressure to weight balance is off and too big for what it is so be mightly careful with it, and make sure its stable and can handle the wet properly on a skidplate
Definitely a keeper for life, this car is so special. A super bright tangerine orange would be a nice contrast to the lime green GT500. Or could do a SuperHero themed paint scheme. Yellow n Blue accents Wolverine spec 😊
The GTD looks stunning, the only thing I don’t like is the dashboard which is just an open screen. Unfortunately Mercedes, BMW and many others are doing this as well. Is it minimalistic or is it just cheap and looking boring? But anyways the car is like Tim says, mega! Dashboard is just my preference.

Having owned a 71 Capri 1.6 in Ford Evergreen (black vinyl roof) this makes me sad. The Capri name deserves better

The GTD looks stunning, the only thing I don’t like is the dashboard which is just an open screen. Unfortunately Mercedes, BMW and many others are doing this as well. Is it minimalistic or is it just cheap and looking boring? But anyways the car is like Tim says, mega! Dashboard is just my preference.
